Sun and Sea House: Plan 01

Price

$19.00

The view faces one way. The sun comes from the other. This plan solves that.

What is it

A concept architectural floor plan for a 70m² secondary dwelling on a coastal or rural site where the primary view faces away from the sun. The plan demonstrates how to bring sunlight deep into the home from the sun side while maintaining a strong, direct connection to the view from the other to support wellbeing and the experience of living close to the water and land.

What you get

  • 1 x high-resolution, to-scale (1:50 metric scale) architectural floor plan (PDF)
  • External area planning that connects interior spaces to the view and the outdoors
  • Planning logic suitable for reference, testing or early design development

From darkness to light

From a home that captures the view but sits in its own shadow
→ to a home that is flooded with sunlight throughout the day

From stagnant air
→ to improved natural airflow and cross-ventilation

From rooms that turn their back on the landscape
→ to spaces with a direct, considered connection to the view

From a small footprint that feels constrained
→ to a 70m² plan that lives larger than its size

Where it applies

Coastal, rural and semi-rural sites where:

  • The primary view faces away from the main sun direction
  • The goal is to capture both sunlight and views without sacrificing either
  • Natural light, ventilation and connection to the outdoors are priorities
  • A secondary dwelling or additional structure is being considered

Note: floor area limits, planning approval requirements and setback rules vary by council and jurisdiction. Always seek advice from a qualified architect or building professional before proceeding with any design or construction.

FAQ

What is the overall size of the dwelling shown?
The plan is designed within a 70m² footprint. External deck and transition spaces extend the liveable area beyond this.

Does this work for both northern and southern hemisphere sites?
Yes. The plan is oriented with the sun side and the view side clearly identified. Whether your sun comes from the north or the south, the underlying spatial logic applies, you simply read the plan in relation to your own site orientation.

Is this a finished house design I can build directly?
No. This is an architectural floor plan intended for study, reference and early-stage design thinking. It shows a planning response, not a construction-ready documentation set.

What type of site is this designed for?
Coastal and rural sites where the sea or landscape view faces away from the primary sun direction: a condition common on south-facing waterfronts in the northern hemisphere and north-facing waterfronts in the southern hemisphere.

Can this be adapted to my own site?
Yes, that is how it is intended to be used. The value is in the underlying spatial logic, which becomes a framework for testing your own layout options against your specific site conditions, council rules and brief.

Do I get an editable CAD, Revit or DWG file?
No. The plan is supplied as a high-resolution, to-scale PDF for reference, study and early-stage design thinking. If you are working with an architect or designer, they can use the layout in their own software using the PDF as the basis, which is the standard way reference plans like this are used.

I bought the plan but did not receive the download. What do I do?
